Hey!
Less protein, more cardio
Last week I was feeling a little bulky and getting stuck in my regular leg workouts. This week was a lil switch up. I focused on getting less protein in, and higher carbs so I would have more energy to run. Instead of drinking my smoothie in the morning with my Vega / Garden of Life protein pow, I’ve been using a banana and adding in more healthy fats like chia and flax + greens (of c). I’ve been hitting a goal of at least 40 mins of cardio everyday this week. Also- I have not done arms this week and it helped a lot with leaning out.
Some examples of cardio I’ve done:
Stair climber intervals (per usu)
Elliptical
Spin (cycling)
Running outside long distance
Hiking
*key is to switch up the cardio so you don’t get bored
Tips for running success
I wrote a whole blog on how to get good at running and the tips that I used to get myself into it π CLICK HERE
Working out legs still
Have still been doing legs but I’ve dropped the weight down 5-10lbs and I’ve been taking it easier on the abs.
I think it’s been a good switch up. When your body starts to get in a routine, your workouts are less effective– time to put it in shock again.
Just some thoughts (running makes me think):
It’s really the extra bit that makes a difference. I used to go to the gym everyday and make it very routine and basic. And guess what, I got super basic results.. and I wondered why nothing was changing. When you start putting more energy into it and looking forward to it as something you do to better yourself the shift changes. It’s not something you’re forcing yourself to do, it’s something you’re doing because you enjoy it. My warm ups now are like what my whole workout used to be. Don’t cut yourself short, put your all into it everyday. It will get easier and your all will become more. It’s the extra that everyone else won’t do, don’t be everyone else.. be extra π
What I mean by this is, set goals for yourself before you set foot in the gym. This way you have to hit them before you leave and you have a plan. For example, this week I set 40mins of cardio as a goal. Every time I hit 30 mins of cardio and thought… I want to stop, I reverted and thought “am I really going to let 10 mins of running keep me from hitting my goals?” HELL NO. I can do anything for 10 minutes. 10mins X 7days = 70extra mins of cardio which is like 7 slow miles… so ya it adds up.Β It’s this little extra push that makes the difference. Train your mind to be stronger.
